RFD and Santa Claus

This morning Aaron had the great honor of delivering Santa Claus (and the Mrs.) to the Mt. Shasta Mall so of course we had to go and spectate that!

Thanksgiving Day

PB273254
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  We had a nice, laid back mellow Thanksgiving and had much to be thankful for.  We started out the day at the Annual Turkey Trot.  The kids participated in the Diestlehorst Dash and we all did the 2 mile fun run.  It's such a great community event and we love doing it...this year we ran into a bunch of our friends which made it all that more fun.

Later in the day we had dinner at my Mom's house...all the delicious traditional dishes...that make you sleepy...and FAT!  But oh so good!

And it's not really Thanksgiving unless you meet a Stormtrooper right?

Little late on this but check it out anyhow

So this video isn't exactly timely but it's still pretty incredible to watch.  With a couple of wigs Ron Howard manages to look 30 and even 46 years younger...and that to me is incredible!

Cakewrecks

I came across this blog a few months ago and wanted to pass it on.  The blog is called Cakewrecks and it is a blog all about "when professional cakes go horribly, hilariously wrong."

This one is the one that started it all...
Walmart

Ordered from the bakery at Walmart.... "...And underneath that, write 'We will miss you'. Got it?"

Here's a few others to give you an idea of some of the craziness on there:

Talk about a cheap mom...
Mom is cheap

Seriously?  A cake that matches the bride?
Bride cake

And this one is all kinds of wrong!

If you have a few minutes to kill it's a fun time waster!   Check it out here...Cakewrecks.

Twilight Funny

I LOVE the Twilight Series of books by Stephenie Meyer but for some reason I'm not that excited about seeing the movie. I will (and probably more than once!) but now that it's actually in theaters I'm not crazed to go see. Possibly because the guy they picked for Edward IS NOT MY Edward. I don't know who they could have possibly chosen to play Edward, I just know that guys IS NOT MY Edward. Anyhow I came across this funny parody of the movie and thought I'd share...

A woman by the name of Jen from Louisiana owns this site and also hosts a daily Podcast called the Classy Closet.  I have offered a piece that will be part of her daily giveaway promotion.

And on this site...Pretty in the city

Karyn is a hilarious blogger and author that I 'met' after reading her first book Save Karyn and contacting her.  I love reading her blog and if I was single and lived in Brooklyn, I think I'd be her....LOL!

In other jewelry news I have on order a new letter stamp set that I'm very excited about!  Picture 4
It's extremely hard to find and get (not to mention expensive) a set other than the traditional block letters, well after some perseverance I was able to order one yesterday!  I should have it in the next couple of weeks.

Sad News

I've attempted to write something for the last few days and haven't known how to properly word it.  I still don't.  On Friday morning my grandmother passed away.  It is unbelievably sad for me to think about.  I can take a small comfort in the fact that we did get to see her one last time this past summer.

Kathryn Milcheck, 92, of North Huntingdon, died Friday, Nov. 14, 2008, at Mt. Vernon Care Center. She was born Nov. 4, 1915, in Yukon, a daughter of the late Michael and Kata Grgk Persin Topolnak. Kathryn was a member of St. Agnes Church, North Huntingdon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Milcheck; and sisters, Bertha Farich, Ann Crider, Dorothy Milovac, Rose Paxon, Veronica Mehn, Mary DeGiovanni and Mildred O'Busec. She is survived by two sons, Steven and his wife, Donna, of Mount Dora, Fla., and Ronald, of New Stanton; one brother, Anthony Topolnak, of West Mifflin; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the JAMES W. SHIRLEY FUNERAL HOME, Clay Pike, North Huntingdon. A blessing service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, followed by interment in Yukon Cemetery.  Courtesy of the Pittsbrugh Tribune Review.

Historical moment!!

The iPhone is cool

The iPhone fairly recently started offering additional applications you can download onto your iPhone...stuff like games, productivity software or goofy little add-ons (doesn't everyone want their phone to turn into a light saber?)  I've been playing around with some of them and wanted to share my current favorite.  It is an app called "Camera Bag" and what it does is enhance the photos you take with your camera phone...so simple and no need for Photoshop.  There are 8 different filter options (Helga, 1974, Lolo, Cinema, 1962, Ansel, Infrared and Fisheye) and they're all really cool for a different/vintage look...I had been wanting to buy and play around with a Holga camera and a fish-eye lens and now I don't have to!

Here's one I took of Ella today demonstrating the different filters....

Not bad for a camera phone, huh?

Here's the Motley Halloween Crew

IMG_9291

Jacob as a Jawa, Lisa as 'Mrs. Joker', Aaron as the Joker, and Ella as a Vampire....fun, fun stuff!  Had a great Halloween day and capped it off with our annual party with friends and trick-or-treating.  Everyone (just about..ahem, Karen and John) went all out and dressed up.  Only bummer was the rain...well actually it added a certain something special to Aaron and I's costume, but Jacob was having a really hard time trick-or-treating in a heavy wet blanket, which eventually came off as to make the night not, "the worst Halloween ever!"  Click here for a crazy amount of Halloween pics!
