Open Studio Days

Open studio
Happy Summer!  Now that it is summer I decided to do something a little special/different with my business.  I am going to have "Open Studio Days" throughout the summer.  My plan is that one day per week--most likely a different day and/or time to accomodate varying schedules--I will have what I'm calling an "Open Studio Day".  Basically this will be a day to come to my studio to pick up orders, discuss future orders or see my creations in person.  It's not going to be a formal 'Open House'--but I will actually be dressed, will have pieces available for purchase out and might possibly have some treats for any visitors that may stop by!  Otherwise it's a scheduled day for me to plug along and make new jewelry--I'm not a schedule kinda person but with the kids home on summer vaca I needed to attempt to schedule some more formal work time!

I have a lot of local customers that like to see my jewelry in person, discuss options and pick up their orders if they are local and it's sometimes a challenge to pick a day/time that works for both of us.  I thought I'd try this and see how it works!

My first Open Studio Day will be this Thursday, June 16th from 10am-4pm.

Email me at lisaski@me.com for directions or any questions/comments.

I will always announce each "Open Studio Day" on my Facebook business page (http://www.facebook.com/JuellaDesigns).  If you are not local to the Redding, California area, please join my Juella Designs Facebook page--ALL FANS, regardless of location, receive free shipping on their orders when they use the coupon code found there!!

Next week's Open Studio Day is scheduled for Wednesday, June 22.

Hair OBSESSED!

Remember from only a few days ago (Day 16 Favorite Things) and I talked about my fairly drastic hair cut?  Well already I've changed it!  Amy P. is still my favorite thing but she got upped a notch even higher in my book for putting up with my neurosis and giving me an even better cut!  I went the weekend just not vibing on the first cut...I just didn't feel like me.  Why wait 6 weeks or so until the next cut?  I called her up and she totally understood me and we went for the full she-bang!

Shorthair

I love it!!!  And you know what's even funnier?  I went in to see her with a new inspiration photo.  A picture of a cartoon character!  Ha!  Screen shot 2010-12-21 at 4.16.12 PM

Day 14 of My Favorite Things

Photo I didn't know this was my favorite until last night but OH MY GOSH it's a major new favorite!  A pure extravagant indulgence but OMG.... Vintner's Cellar of Redding's Cocoa De Dolce.  Last night I attended a wine tasting event which is funny because I'm not a wine drinker-at all.  It was a wonderful evening and while I didn't care for pretty much all the wine we tasted, learning about the different wines and tasting them with various food pairings was actually quite fascinating.  And then we hit our final wine--a chocolate port.  All I can say is "WOW" and "mmmmmmmm....."  Given that I have never bought a bottle of wine before and the first bottle I buy is $40, I think it's best I don't become a wine drinker.  But our Christmas dinner will have an excellent finish.  :-)

Turtle Bay and Juella Designs

This past weekend my family and I took a walk to TurtlePhoto Bay on the new Dana to Downtown bike/walking  trail from Hilltop Drive.  The trail was full of people and so fun to see so many people out in the fresh air enjoying this beautiful area!  Our destination was Turtle Bay...the kids wanted to see the fish viewing (just never gets old for them!), Aaron wanted to see the new costume exhibit with famous movie costumes featured, but I was most excited to see my jewelry for sale at the Museum Store!

And here it is....Juella Designs....many designs exclusive and made just for Turtle Bay!

ReddingHandmade

18769_244782555838_244782410838_3128293_5837708_n  I recently joined a local team that I am so excited about.  We are just in the beginning stages and I'm so happy to be a part of it from the start.  Chrystal from Chyrstalyn handmade jewelry is the founding member and see's it as a local creative collective for those in Redding with Etsy shops.  It's called ReddingHandmade and we are having our debut Open House on February 6th.

I met with Chrystal the other night and her enthusiasm is infectious!  It was such fun talking to her and she is even more socially media conscious than me, it was great!  We talked about what we see for the team and what we can offer other team members, as well as Redding.  The initial draw for me, is the opportunity to meet with local like minded people who also make handcrafted items available on Etsy.  So often I'm in my little studio creating alone.  As much as I like being a sole proprietorship, it can get lonely at times.  Chrystal's idea for starting this team is much more generous....it's to share the love of handcrafting with others and to help others grow their own Etsy businesses, so they too can achieve a sort of freedom.

The possibilities for this team are so great.

I hope you can come check us out.  And if you live near or in Redding and either have an Etsy shop or want to start one, please join us!
